I love so much music that I’ve decided to do a weekly music obsession. This week is Common Market’s release Tobacco Road from 2008. I’ve become a bit of a hip hop snob. I’m a producer for a living, and I’ve been into hip hop since the early 80′s, so I’ve heard a lot of rap music. Some good, some bad.
When I listen to hip hop now, I really look for a soulful music to go along with the lyrics. I don’t dig most gangsta rap, and really never have. I definitely like a fusion in music. And I feel the Common Market pulled that off. Not just with Tobacco Road, but with all of their works. Their group is still together, but RA Scion is about to release a solo project. I hope that’s as good as everything else they’ve put out.
